Evya diligently went to every practice, even when she had to alter the drills to accomodate her shoulder recovery. She was immediately rewarded with Swimmer of the Week.

It wasn't until late June that she felt ready to compete. At her first Wednesday night meet, she was the only 15-18 woman to show up for the 100 IM!

As a concession to her shoulder recovery, she decided to swim 100 yard breaststroke, which is the least painful event for her. It is still her least favorite stroke, so she took extra time to warm up really well.

The next day was her bread-and-butter backstroke. It is also the event she injured herself doing in 2024 and from which she has been recovering ever since.

She only swam 100 backstroke a couple of times this summer but was .35 from County going into conference prelims. She ended up smashing the county time by 4 seconds!

Though she came in 8th in the final race, she knocked another second off her time! This was her personal best by 3 SECONDS since March 2025.

Evya was given The Hustler Award for Attitude, Effort, and Determination.

Coach Ray credited the 15-18s for their large contribution to the 2026 season by showing up and, as an age group, scoring major points in the big meets.
